Festivals

Annual holidays and festivals of Setúbal and the peninsula — from the June Popular Saints and Sardine Week to the Palmela Medieval Fair, the river procession of Our Lady of the Rosary of Tróia, and the winter Círculo de Jazz festival.

Setúbal is a city that celebrates all year round. February opens with the Círculo de Jazz festival in the walls of the Monastery of Jesus and the Fórum Luísa Todi. June belongs to the Popular Saints — Santo António, São João, São Pedro — with marches along the avenue, sardine grills, and festivities until dawn. July–August brings Sardine Week and the river procession of Our Lady of the Rosary by ferry to Tróia. September features the grape harvest festival and the medieval fair at the Castle of Palmela. October–November hosts the Moscatel festival.

Each of these celebrations is not merely entertainment but a form of collective memory, connecting the city’s residents with the sea, the land, and centuries of history.
